Back to school, work and everyday life - vacation’s over. September is my favourite time in Paris - the energy, the line outside papeteries as parents buy school supplies and seeing tan and fashionably tousled Parisians doing la Rentrée in style.
Then as now, la Rentrée’s a uniquely French tradition, supposedly tracing back to the 13th century when universities closed to limit absences caused by students who went to help their parents during the summer harvest.

This week I’m off to Paris and the south of France - research! Oui, it’s a tough job but someone, as the saying goes, has got to it. I’m excited to hit the archives and ‘investigate’ a new project and ideas from my last visit.
