Bonjour Everyone,
I’m just back from an amazing weekend in NYC to receive the Médaille d’Or du Rayonnement Culturel presented by the French Consul in the consulate.
What a jewel box of a building! Such an honor to receive this with other laureates for my work sharing historic and cultural insights about the 20 arrondissements in Paris and contributing to French cultural understanding in my books set in WW2.
During my brief acceptance speech I thanked my readers and as many people as I could who’ve helped in my writing journey and spoke on how I always discover something new in Paris each visit during my 20+ years of research work. It’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it, non? #ilovemyjob. My wonderful Soho publisher and editor attended and we celebrated after at dinner.
“You’ve achieved what was said to be impossible,” said President Macron this week in Paris. After the 2019 fire ravaged Notre Dame, her bells are ringing again and she’s open! Thanks to the 2,000 workers, craftsmen and artisans who contributed to her restoration. Remember seeing these pictures?
But last week she re-opened, restored and welcoming!
I can’t wait to visit! Our April in Paris trip has expanded. If you’re interested a few spaces in the second week have opened up. We’d love to see to see you! Please contact Meg, my pal + organizer extraordinaire, for info: whalenmj55@gmailcom — check April in Paris 2025 for a description on my website.
More on the new book coming soon!
Merci for reading mes amies, I’m so thankful to you!
